Little Dragons is Crooked River’s program for young students.  These classes are broken down into 2 age groups.

Littlest Dragons (Ages 3 & 4)

The LIttlest Dragons meet twice weekly for about 25 minutes.  The focus with this age group is:

  • Acclimate the students to group learning.  This is often these students first time in a “class” and there may be an adjustment as they learn to navigate a structured learning routine.
  • We focus a lot on gross motor skills while incorporating some martial art basics.  Over time we’re able to “flip” the balance and focus more on more their karate skills.
  • Have fun!  Students will not continue training if they are not having fun.  We work hard to maintain a traditional martial art environment while also making learning engaging and fun.
Little Dragons (Ages 5 & 6)

The LIttle Dragons meet twice weekly for 45 minutes.  The focus with this age group is:

  • Build on their growing, basic martial art skills.
  • Continue developing gross motor skills through a variety of active learning and movement activities.
  • Expand their growing vocabulary of terminology in Korean.
  • Increase expectations around behavior, discipline and traditional martial art etiquette.
  • Prepare them for advancement, both in rank and readiness for moving into the All Ranks classes.
  • Have fun!  As with the Littlest Dragons, students have to want to come to class.  That happens when they feel encouraged; have made friends and have fun.  At Crooked River, we believe we can have fun and maintain a traditional martial art school environment.
